By Car & Ferry
From Mid European Mainland start your holidays on Islay with a relaxing sea trip from Rotterdam to Hull (“P&O ferries”) or from Amsterdam to Newcastle ("DFDS ferries”). The vessels will leave The Netherlands in the late afternoon and arrive at the east coast of England the next morning after you had a laid back night and nice breakfast on board of the ship. Drive to Kennacraig (5 miles from Tarbert) at the west coast of Scotland. Please note that you must arrive at the ferry terminal for journeys to or from Islay at least 30 minutes before departure times. Ferries arrive on Islay either at Port Ellen or at Port Askaig. Go to for more information including timetables and reservations. The crossing takes just over two hours.
