Callumkill Farmhouse

Callumkill Farmhouse was built about 200 years ago on the site, and using the stones, of a church. The estate´s name “Callumkill” stems from the old irish language: Colum Cille = Church Dove. The name refers to St. Columban of Iona, a famous abbot and missionary who lived in 6th century. We have sympathetically renovated the house to a very high standard retaining original features, like butler’s bells and flagstones, but adding modern comforts. It is built on top of a ridge with breathtaking views over fields with fallow deer, the pagodas of Lagavulin and the sea. Like our Ardbeg Cottage the Callumkill Farmhouse is located on our estate - so perfect for a quiet get away or a base for touring Islay.
